Built in 1927 in the Italian Renaissance style, the Saenger Theatre reflects a magnificent 15th-century Italian courtyard and gardens with a starlit evening sky ceiling and meticulously hand-painted features. Following Hurricane Katrina, the Saenger became the focus of a $53 million redevelopment project, restoring the original 1927 design and in 2013 the 2,613 seat venue reopened. The Saenger Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and hosts major touring Broadway performances and national headlining concerts. Situated on Canal Street in downtown New Orleans, the Saenger Theatre is just steps from the famous French Quarter.
